Bookish Gift Ideas

As it's my birthday coming up this month, (a week today!!), I wanted to write a post of all the gifts you could get a book lover, whether it's your parent, friend or partner at any time of the year. I also wanted to include a variety of affordable gifts aswell as a few pricier ones, as I know a lot of people are struggling with money right now, so I hope this helps!

Loop earplugs

To block out pesky noise whilst reading. I find it very hard to read unless it's in complete silence, so I know these help me a lot personally. There are a few different versions of loop ear plugs: some letting no sound in, some letting important sounds in and some even allowing you to have full conversations that still block out some noise. There are a few budget friendlier options on Amazon I have found ranging from £10-£15, or you could simply just get some bulkier noice cancellers for style preferences. On the other hand, if your book-lover loves to listen to playlists or white noise when reading you could get them some Bluetooth noise cancelling headphones, so that they can immerse themselves in their own bookish world.

A TBR diary

I have seen quite a few tbr diaries popping up in my feed recently and wanted to mention them here. They're so useful and can come in so many different designs. You can buy them from big companies but also from smaller companies who you could help out a lot. You can even make your own if you're feeling creative, using canva and a printing website, to make the gift feel truly special.

Book annotation tools and bookmarks

if your bookish friend is an annotator and loves to draw all over their books, some see through sticky notes, new highlighters or pens, or some decorative stickers could do the trick. They're also super inexpensive and the perfect tiny gift to go in a book hamper or a stocking filler at Christmas.

Book decor & Accessories

I have seen a lot of cute shelf decor around the web lately, specifically of book shaped vases or cute book nook kits. There are other options however, such as: book ends, book lights and candles. I have also seen a lot of cute personalised necklaces or bracelets from Etsy or Depop, or even some bracelet charms.

A Book Cart

Everyone loves a book cart! I see so many of them on Amazon and on Instagram reels, and they're so aesthetically pleasing. I ended up buying myself one and they are so useful for holding all your bookish items! You can find these carts for different price ranges, some from £10 up to £50 for bigger or better ones. They also come in so many styles, that I'm sure any book lover would love!

A new book

If you know us book lovers, you know we love new books, especially if we've been eying one up for a while! Any book lover would appreciate the thought to get them a new book if you know what they're into. You could even go all out and order a book subscription box from companies such as, Owlcrate, illumicrate or litjoy if you have the extra cash, or even buy a second hand special edition from Depop or online sellers, or even head down to your local second hand bookshop.

If they're a digital reader or audiobook listener, you could buy them a kindle book off Amazon or a month subscription to their favourite audiobook service.

Make them something!

I know I love a handmade gift, and if it was to make my reading experience better, I'd love it all the more. There are a lot of things to make even if you're a beginner or an advance crafter such as: bookmarks or book sleeves, bookends or book nooks, quote necklaces, bracelets or key rings, a personalised reading playlist or even try your hand at creating a book cover or some sprayed edges if you're feeling more adventurous. Anything that you work hard on will surely be appreciated! You could even do a bookish care package full of their favourite snacks, annotation stationary, gift cards to their favourite book stores and candles if you have a lot of time or budget.

Whatever you decide to buy or create your bookish companion, I'm sure they will love it! Don't forget to have fun making your creations if you choose to do some crafts!
